The Shoulder of Mutton is a traditional Country Pub set in the heart of Middleton Tyas just one minute from the A1 at Scotch Corner. We provide the perfect venue for an intimate lunch, a cosy dinner or a meeting of friends and family and we offer the perfect stopping place on journeys both north and south. We are also very close to the Scotch Corner Hotel, the Travelodge and the local Bed & Breakfasts.

We pride ourselves on our friendly welcome and service and our excellent food. All our dishes are made on the premises and we use local produce whenever possible. Our meat is locally sourced and our steaks are 28 day matured, our Seafood, which comes from local fishmongers, is fresh daily. Simon our chef was trained at the Savoy in London, he is local to the area and previously worked at the Black Bull.

Our well-stocked bar includes a selection of real ales, great wines and a range of freshly brewed coffee and teas. Our private dining room, appropriately called "Upstairs" seats up to 20 people and it is ideal for private parties or a family gathering. Upstairs is also fully equipped for the needs of a formal meeting or a conference for up to 18 people, please call for details.

In 2010 the Darlington and Stockton Times selected us as their sixth best restaurant in the this part of England in competition with some very fine eateries. Our goal is to climb further up their list! Why not visit us very soon and make your own assessment?
